First off you will need to download mIRC from the
official website. This
is the most popular program for chatting on IRC and it works with any network you
wish. You will then need to configure your copy so that it can connect first
to the network and then to #tommyboyd.
To connect as a guest and select a nickname (nick) at a future time:
• Under Category ensure the "Connect" option is selected.
• Under IRC Network select Webnet.
• In the next box select Webnet: Random server.
• Click the button marked Connect to IRC Server.
• When the text stops you will be connected.
If you would like to select a nick before connection, the mIRC Options window includes other
fields such as full name, email address, nickname or alternative nickname. Simply add
these details, then click the button marked Connect to IRC Server as above.
To join #tommyboyd or any other chatroom simply use /join #channel where #channel
represents the chatroom you'll be joining. You are then free to chat! The following
is a list of commands you will be needing whilst you chat. Please use mIRC's helpfile,
ask for assistance in #tommyboyd, or type /list help to view a list of helpful chatrooms
on Webnet.
